The Jackson Hewitt American Express Serve Card promotes itself as a quick way to get your federal tax refund.
It is much faster to get your tax refund loaded onto a prepaid card than getting a check in the mail.
However, if you have a checking or savings account with a bank or credit union, you can opt to have your tax refund direct deposited into your account.
There are two ways to get a Jackson Hewitt Serve card: You can order one online or you can pick one up at any Jackson Hewitt offices nationwide, including when you file your tax returns with them.
Jackson Hewitt American Express Serve Card Login
Here are the steps you need to take to log in to your Jackson Hewitt Amex account.
Step 1 – Visit the American Express Serve Website
The first step to login into your Jackson Hewitt American Express Serve Card account is to visit the Amex Serve website. Click here to be taken there.
Once there, click on the “Log In” link at the top of the page as shown in the image below.
Step 2 – Enter Your Login Information
Next, you will be taken to a webpage that looks like the one below. Enter your username and password in the boxes provided, as shown by the arrow below, then click the “Log In” link.
If you entered the correct username and password associated with your account, you will be taken to your Jackson Hewitt Serve card account.
Step 3 – See Your Card Balance
Once there, you will be able to view your account balance, recent transactions and find the nearest ATM location, among other functions.

Next, click “Continue” and you will be provided with instructions on how to retrieve your username or reset your Serve account password.
How to Register a new Serve card for Online Access
The first step to register your Jackson Hewitt American Express Serve Card is to visit the Serve card website. Click here to be taken there.
Next, click on the “Log In” link at the top of the page as shown in the image below.
You will be taken to a webpage that looks like the one below.
Next, click on the “Not a member? Create an Account” link as shown by the arrow in the image below.
Register Your Serve Card
There are two options available for registering your Serve card.
However, the option you choose depends on whether you have a temporary card or not.
You will be taken to a page like the one below where you will be asked whether you received a temporary card from Jackson Hewitt tax. If you did, select “Yes” as shown below.
Next, enter your 15 digit card number and 4 digit card security code in the spaces provided and click “Continue” to complete the card registration process.
However, if you did not receive a temporary card from Jackson Hewitt tax, then select “No”.
Next, follow the instructions to register for an American Express Serve Account where you will be required to provide the following information to successfully register for an account:
- Name
- Email Address
- Mailing Address
- Phone Number
- Create a Username & Password
- Date of Birth
- Social Security Number (This will be used to verify your identity. There is no credit check required to get a card).
- Create ATM PIN
- Set up Security Question and Answer

Next, select your security question, review the summary of fees and check the box to confirm. Then click on “Agree and Submit”.
Congratulations, you have successfully created a Jackson Hewitt American Express Serve account.
How to Activate a new card
The first step to activating your Jackson Hewitt American Express Serve Card is to visit the Jackson Hewitt Amex Serve website. Click here to be taken there.
Next, click on the “Have a Card Already” link at the top of the page as shown in the image below.
You will then see the screen below. If you have received a temporary card in a Jackson Hewitt office, then keep reading.
Next, click on the “Activate Now” link as shown by the arrow below.
If you have an online account, enter your username and password as shown below.
If you do not have an online account, you need to register for one before you can activate your card.

Once you have registered for an online account, you will be able to log in and activate your card online.
How do I check my Jackson Hewitt American Express Serve Card balance?
Here is how to check the balance on your American Express Serve card.
Temporary Bluebird Card Balance
First, before you can check the balance on your temporary Jackson Hewitt American Express Serve Card, you will need the following:
- Your temporary Bluebird card number (15 digit number)
- Four-digit security code on the front of the card

The page will look like the one below and you will be asked to enter your temporary card number and security code.
Permanent Card Balance
You can check the balance on your permanent Jackson Hewitt American Express Serve Card online or via phone.
To login to your account online, click here. Once you successfully log in to your account, your card balance will be displayed at the top of the page.
You can also view your transaction history once you are logged in. Select View Transactions at the top of the main page to view your detailed transaction history.
Another option to check your balance is via phone.
You can also view your balance on the American Express Serve Mobile Application login screen.
To set up the Quick Balance feature, log in to your Account on the Mobile App and go to Settings > Quick Balance and toggle the switch on.
The next time you are on the American Express Serve Mobile App login screen, swipe the dollar sign on the bottom of the screen to the right and you will see your current balance information.
